Losing weight can be a daunting task! Everything goes really well to begin with, but after a little while you may lose motivation. When you see people have success, you start to wonder what they did to reach their goals, and what it took to get there. How on earth do they manage it?
Choosing your fitness goal is step number one. Have you set a goal of how much weight you want to shed? Is there a certain clothing size you want to wear, or do you want your current wardrobe to fit you comfortably once again? Is your goal to be in better shape or gain energy?
Write everything down to keep track of how you are doing. Don’t get on the scale more than one time a week. Weighing yourself every day or more than once a week can contribute to anxiety if you are not seeing results. Keep a food journal in which you write down all the things you eat, along with the calorie content of each meal. Make sure you also list any drinks and snacks. The act of logging food often helps you focus on what you choose to eat or drink and can prevent you from making a bad, short-term decision without thinking.
When you are hungry, it will be easy to make food choices that are not in your best interest. You’re not taking into account whether it’s a healthy choice – you just want to ease your hunger pangs as quickly as possible! Avoid this by having snacks on hand and make time for your meals. You could take a meal with you so you aren’t having to get take-out to satisfy your hunger. Making this change will reduce the calories you take in and also your food costs.
Every weight loss plan must include both a healthy diet and an effective exercise program. You need to keep up your healthy eating plan and exercise regularly in order to keep losing weight, so don’t hesitate to combine working out and having fun. If you are not motivated, get a work out buddy. Have your family join you for some exercise. You’ll be working out without even trying!
If junk food is not handy, you will be far less likely to choose it. You can do this by not buying it or not having it in your presence. You have a greater chance of eating food that is good for you if you keep healthy food around you at all times.
Developing a solid support system can help you lose weight. Support from family and friends can make all the difference. When you feel like giving up, a simple call to a person in your support network can make all the difference in the world.
